Gio Blanco Hernández

Gionira “Gio” Blanco Hernández is a fundraising strategy consultant and social impact leader with more than 17 years of experience advancing the sustainability and growth of nonprofit organizations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Latino sector. She is the founder and principal consultant of Abundantia for Social Good, a boutique firm specializing in strategic fundraising planning, donor engagement, board activation, and capacity-building for mission-driven organizations. Since its founding in 2024, Abundantia has supported more than 50 nonprofit organizations in strengthening revenue streams, developing fundraising infrastructures, and designing campaigns that align mission, community, and long-term impact. 

Before launching her consultancy, Gio held key development and philanthropy leadership roles, including Resource Development Manager at Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico, where she led annual strategy, donor acquisition, and board engagement; and Philanthropy Manager at the Youth Development Institute (IDJ), where she secured more than $650,000 annually and cultivated multi-year relationships with institutional funders. She also directed GivingTuesday Puerto Rico, positioning it as one of the most active and community-driven chapters in Latin America. 

A recognized voice in the nonprofit sector, Gio is the creator of Abundantia Chronicles, the first Puerto Rico–based newsletter dedicated entirely to fundraising strategy and nonprofit growth. Her writing and trainings make complex fundraising concepts accessible and actionable for diverse audiences across the island and the diaspora. She has been invited to speak at webinars, panels, and conferences in Puerto Rico, the United States, Latin America, and global virtual forums, where she teaches on donor engagement, board activation, and the art of sustainable fundraising. 

As a mentor with the GivingTuesday Starling Collective, Gio has guided over 70 community and nonprofit leaders worldwide in fundraising strategy, community building, and long-term sustainability. Fully bilingual, she bridges both English- and Spanish-speaking sectors, helping organizations navigate cultural, philanthropic, and operational nuances across regions. 

Gio holds an M.A. in Human Rights (GPA 4.00) from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and a B.A. in Anthropology (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Puerto Rico. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Consultants 4 Good. Her work centers on equity, strategic clarity, and the creation of resilient ecosystems that sustain social change.
