Philosophy
Adapting to change
The climate crisis will affect everyone, but not everyone has the means to respond and adapt to the changes that need to be made. One of the drivers of our practice is to offer adaptability alternatives such as clean energy, heat wave mitigation, rainwater harvesting, stormwater management, among others, that will not only ensure the sustainability of our environment but also the necessary resilience of marginalized Puerto Rican communities.
Regeneration of Existing Environments
We strive for the regeneration of the existing urban and suburban environments through thoughtful community revitalization. We see this as the most efficient way of accelerating a new relationship between the natural and the manmade environment. Community revitalization by existing building reuse can result in maximizing connectivity, adapting to greener technologies and promoting land use trends that safeguard the conservation of greenfields, among many others. We are committed to using the analysis of all the existing conditions of each project and its users as the basis for creating stronger communities and a sustainable future.
The Sum of All
The design process is only complete with community participation. People must have a say in how their built environment is altered and should collaborate in making the transformations they need to live and work in better places. Through our experiences collaborating in community-based projects and participatory design processes, we have developed the skills and sensibility required to listen to our clients and work with them to jointly identify solutions that best meet their interests, needs and resources.
