Rebeca Vicens Sánchez
Architect license # 19925 / Member, Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas de Puerto Rico (CAAPPR)
Registered architect with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech. Her professional practice of 20+ years has oscillated between architectural and sociocultural initiatives. Since 2002 she has collaborated with design firms in Puerto Rico and Washington, DC on public and private residential projects. In 2011 she founded her private studio focused on exhibition and small-scale residential design. In parallel, she has collaborated with nonprofit organizations leading diverse projects in areas such as low-income housing construction, community design, arts education, and development of participatory grantmaking practices.
In 2009, she founded the nonprofit organization Transformando Nuestro Entorno, a platform to foster and support civic efforts to learn about and transform the physical environment.
Since August 2021 she collaborates as adjunct professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico, where she offers graduate and undergraduate architectural design studios.

Housing Action Dialogue, a working group for funders to learn together, strategize and align efforts around issues of housing and land security in Puerto Rico.
