Project by Rebeca Vicens Sánchez for Transformando Nuestro Entorno

Parque Ecológico Joaquina de Vedruna

Joaquina de Vedruna Ecological Park is an outdoor learning space for students who attend the Centro Educativo Joaquina de Vedruna’s (CEJV) after-school program. It was conceived as a place for children to learn, exercise and have fun while developing a broader and more sensible vision about their relationship with the physical environ ment. The park also had the additional goal of strengthening the ties between CEJV and the Alejandrino Community, its immediate neighbors. The nonprofit organization Transformando Nuestro Entorno (TNE), founded by Rebeca Vicens Sánchez, led the participative process in which students, CEJV staff and volunteers, and members of the Alejandrino Community provided ideas for the park’s design and co llaborated in its construction. TNE also assisted CEJV in the identification and coordination of resources to build the park.
