Project by Cristina Algaze Beato for DDD Architecture, PSC
Fajardo Marine
Project Architect for the complete design of a two-level high efficiency building of 2,600sf per floor and a Boat Storage. Design included complicated soil considerations, structural, architectural, ACV, plumbing, electrical and with a very high standard in Security and IT coordination. Federal green building principles implemented.
To ensure maximun energy efficiency, the project’s form, orientation and building envelope design was coordinatated early on the design process with whole building energy modelings in order to optimize the design while controlling the construction cost. For example cost and value analysis where performed to decide on either a more robust glazing solar heat gain coefficient versus additional thermal resistance of roofing system. The integrated design process not only included digital modeling to ensure performance but also all engineering disciplines and consultants participated in establishing and implementing the green building goals of the project.
Green building and high-performance strategies Implemented:
Low Impact Development for Stormwater Management
Permeable Open Grid Pavements
Rainwater Harvesting
Indoor Water use reduction
